Bill Fernandez: Rainbows Over Kapaa
Bill Fernandez shares Hawaiian history. His father was a traveling movie showman who settled on Kapaa and met his mother.
Together they built the largest movie theater in all of the islands in 1939. It was a state-of-the-art movie theater with a magnificent silver screen, but Hurricane Iniki blew it away in 1992.
Bill Fernandez is a Kapa'a-born author, retired California Superior Court judge, and former president of the Kaua'i Historical Society. A Kamehameha Schools and Stanford University graduate, he has authored over 10 books on Hawaiian history and culture, including the memoirs 'Rainbows Over Kapa'a' and 'Hawai'i in War and Peace.'
