Half-Native Hawaiian author, retired California Superior Court judge, and Kauai historian. Born and raised in Kapa'a. Kamehameha Schools (Class of 1949) and Stanford University graduate. Practiced law in Sunnyvale, CA, served as Mayor and Superior Court judge. Returned to Kapa'a and authored 10+ books on Hawaiian history. President of the Kaua'i Historical Society. Self-taught Hawaiian language speaker who composes oli (chants) for book presentations.
