Welcome to the Kiahuna Golf Club, where I, Matt Torry, the head golf professional, will be sharing some valuable tips to improve your short game. In this session, we'll be focusing on a common situation when you miss the green. Don't worry, there's no trouble between you and the flagstick, so it's time for your short game skills to shine.

To handle this shot effectively, I'm going to use a pitching wedge and grip down on the club. This not only accommodates the uneven lie but also allows my arms to hang naturally, bringing me closer to the ball. Notice my narrow stance, which reduces the power in my swing. Remember, this shot is about finesse, not raw power. The goal is to bump the ball along the green and get it close to the hole.

As I set up for the shot, you'll see that the shaft of the club is pointing toward my left hip, and the grip is also directed towards the left hip. This positioning sets my hands in a favorable position, minimizing unnecessary movement during the swing. From here, I aim to maintain this angle and swing the club back and through, focusing on holding the angle and avoiding any release.

Watch as I execute the shot, allowing the ball to run toward the hole, setting up my next putt for a par. With practice, you too can improve your short game and become more confident in these situations.
