Musician Has lived on Kauai since 2004. Co-owns Hanalei Strings (ukulele/music shop) in Hanalei with wife Tora Smart (jazz vocalist). Father of Eli Smart.
Multi-genre guitarist and instructor. Born in Japan, grew up in Europe. Musicians Institute (LA) graduate and former MI instructor. Performed at the Academy Awards pre-party 7 years running. Speaks/sings in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and German. Has played with Graham Nash, Taj Mahal, Joni Mitchell, Todd Rundgren, Donald Fagen, and others.
